ContextBlur is a privacy tool for professionals who share their screens. We help people hide sensitive information during video calls, demos, and recordings — with one click.
Why We Built This
Screen sharing is the most common way professionals accidentally expose confidential data. A 2023 Tessian survey found that 52% of employees have shared sensitive information during virtual meetings. Slack DMs appear. Salary columns are visible. Client names flash on screen. API keys sit in browser tabs.
Video conferencing tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams have no built-in way to blur specific parts of your screen. You can share a window or your entire desktop — but you cannot hide the salary column in that spreadsheet or the client name in your CRM.
ContextBlur exists to solve this problem. One click to activate. Click any element to blur it. Share your screen with confidence.
Our Privacy-First Approach
We believe a privacy tool should not create new privacy risks. ContextBlur processes the contents of pages you blur locally in your browser. Pro billing and license checks are separate network-based services. The public website uses aggregate analytics, not monitoring of the pages you present.
Local Page Processing
Blur and pattern detection do not upload the contents of the pages you present.
Separate Billing
Pro payments and license checks use ExtensionPay. This is separate from local page processing.
Minimal Permissions
Review the permissions shown by your browser before installing. The extension needs access to change the appearance of webpages.
