Privacy Policy
ContextBlur does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All processing happens locally in your browser.
Data Collection
ContextBlur is designed with privacy as the core principle. The extension does not collect any personal information, browsing history, or user behavior data.
Local Storage
The extension stores CSS selectors of elements you choose to blur in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local), keyed by page URL. This data:
- Never leaves your browser
- Is not transmitted to any server
- Can be cleared at any time using the "Clear All" button
- Contains only CSS selectors, not personal content
Auto-blur Feature
When you click “Run auto-blur now”, the extension scans visible text on the current page to detect patterns matching emails, phone numbers, SSNs, and credit cards. This processing:
- Happens entirely in your browser
- Only runs when you explicitly click the button
- Requires acceptance of a disclosure on first use
- Does not store or transmit any detected content
Third Parties
No data is shared with any third party. There are no analytics, advertising, tracking services, or external dependencies. All code is bundled locally in the extension package.
Network Requests
ContextBlur makes zero network requests. The extension operates entirely offline and does not communicate with any external servers.
Your Rights
You can clear all stored blur data at any time by clicking “Clear All” in the side panel, or by removing the extension from Chrome.
